Google announced Maps application for Symbian operating system base mobile devices like Nokia and Sony Ericsson. A post in Google Mobile Help Group forum says
Google Maps is now available for Symbian Series 60 3rd edition devices. Compared to the existing J2ME version that you may be using today, this version of the app offers GPS support on Nokia 95 and a significantly faster startup time!
This new Maps applications has a better user interface compared to J2ME version and also asks less number of confirmations while connecting to the data access point.
Surprisingly information about this new application is not posted in the Google Maps Mobile website and there are no links on the website through which you can download the software using a PC. The application can only be downloaded by pointing your mobile browser to the URL google.com/gmm.
Windows Mobile OS and Palm OS users can download the application using your PC from here and here respectively or point your mobile browser to google.com/gmm.
