Microsoft Offers Free Arcade Game To Compensate Xbox Live Holiday Problems

Xbox Live, the online game service offered by Microsoft for users of its Xbox video game console was having some trouble during holiday season.

As recompense for nearly two years of outages, Microsoft is offering full, free Xbox Live Arcade title free of charge to all members.

In a statement posted by Xbox Live general manager Marc Whitten said that the problem with Xbox Live downtime were caused by an influx of new users. Whitten said

During this past holiday season you helped us break a number of Xbox LIVE records.  This included our largest sign-up of new members to Xbox LIVE in our 5 year history and just yesterday you broke the record for the single biggest day of concurrent members ever on the service.

As a result of this massive increase in usage we know that some of you experienced intermittent Xbox LIVE issues over the holiday break.

Although the service was not completely offline, it was a disappointment for many users for not being able to access it. So Microsoft decided to please all the members with a free game.

The free game is already posted to very few users and will be available to all users in the coming weeks. If you have an Xbox Live account, Microsoft would have just posted a free game to you. Check your account.
